Spherical Bearing

The Spherical Bearing consists of a pair of matching concave and convex steel spherical backing plates with a low friction sliding interface in between thereby permitting rotation by in-curve sliding. For the purpose of providing the movement ability, the bearings may be combined with flat sliding elements, guides and restraining rings.

Types of Spherical Bearing:

The main types of Spherical Bearing are mentioned below:

  • Spherical Fixed Bearing

A type of Spherical bearing which along with vertical load, bears and transmits horizontal force in any direction and allows rotation about any axis in horizontal plane without permitting any movement in horizontal plane.

    • *Resists Vertical Load.
    • *Resists Horizontal Forces in any direction.
    • *Resists Rotation in any direction.
    • *Fixed by a restraining ring.
  • Spherical Free bearing

A type of Spherical bearing which bears and transmits vertical load and allows movement in any direction in the horizontal plane and accommodates rotation about any axis in horizontal plane.

    • *Resists Vertical Load.
    • *Resists Rotation in any direction.
    • *Free for displacements in any direction
  • Spherical Guided Bearing

A type of Spherical bearing which along with vertical load bears and transmits horizontal force in one direction only and allows movement perpendicular to that direction and allows rotation about any axis in horizontal plane. This bearing are in two Sub-types i.e. Longitudinal Guided Bearing & Transverse Guided Bearing based on movement.

    • *Resists Vertical Load.
    • *Resists Horizontal Forces in uni- direction.
    • *Resists Rotation in any direction.
    • *Providing guide bar for displacement in one direction
